We all know that our region is facing enormous challenges as we grapple with flooding. While many factors such as development patterns and climate change affect flood risk, it comes down to how much rainfall we get and how runoff from storm events can be managed. Accurate information on rainfall amounts is essential to address these threats.
The Galveston Bay Report Card is the first environmental report of its kind in our area. This video is an introduction to the project and discusses the release of GalvBayGrade.org.
HARC and the Galveston Bay Foundation have teamed up to create a user friendly grading system to communicate the health of the bay to the public. HARC’s role in the report card was to analyze existing data sets from state and federal agencies and devise a grading system that describes what those trends mean in a way that is easy for the public to understand.
