Texas
Schools are the foundation of society. In these facilities, students learn values that will accompany them for life. They are also critical community infrastructure that can provide resilience and emergency support for local residents.
Funded by SECO, HARC is providing no-cost technical assistance on onsite generation and energy storage technologies to facilities at Texas’ ISDs. Each facility will receive a techno-economic analysis tailored to its site-specific characteristics, including energy demand, geospatial considerations, and institutional goals such as resiliency, cost savings, or emissions reduction. For schools already engaged with project developers, HARC will offer independent third-party reviews of proposals, engineering designs, and project details to support informed decision-making.
Beyond initial analyses, HARC will maintain ongoing engagement with each site, following up biannually to track impacts such as installations, operational performance, and long-term program outcomes.
HARC will also be raising awareness of a new initiative called the Texas Backup Power Package program. Part of the Texas Energy fund, it offers financial incentives to help critical facilities across Texas, including schools, secure reliable backup power. Applications will open in 2026, making this the perfect time for schools to take advantage of free technical assistance to evaluate the costs and benefits of participation.
This project ensures that Texas’ educational facilities have the resources they need to make informed strategic, cost-effective, and sustainable energy decisions.
