The Texas Solar for All Coalition was awarded $249.7 million by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to expand solar energy access for low-income and disadvantaged communities across Texas.
Approximately 11 million Texans live in disadvantaged communities, facing high energy costs and inefficient housing. This initiative’s key goals are to reduce the energy burden of underserved communities by lowering energy costs; support local workforce development and create job opportunities in the solar industry; and reduce greenhouse gas emissions through clean energy solutions – ensuring more Texans benefit from affordable, renewable energy.
More practically, the Texas Solar for All program provides financial assistance for solar panel installations, battery storage, and home efficiency improvements. It will do so by delivering the following programs:
As a Coalition partner, HARC is managing or supporting several of the programs mentioned above through solar deployment, energy efficiency upgrades, technical and financial assistance, workforce development, and community outreach to help residents transition to clean, reliable energy.
