Vanessa Hulse is a Science Policy Fellow through the National Academy of Sciences Gulf Research Program. As a Science Policy Fellow, Ms. Hulse supports HARC’s Water and Climate Equity and Community Engagement teams. Her projects include the ForUsTree initiative, where she supports HARC’s teams with community engagement, the Galveston Bay Estuary Program’s Comprehensive Conservation Management Plan, and the HyVelocity Hydrogen Hub.
Ms. Hulse’s educational experience and expertise lies in the area of sustainable chemistry. While working on her master’s, she developed new black pigments made from waste materials. Most recently at Louisiana State University (LSU), she worked on nitrite reduction catalysts to advance eutrophication mitigation efforts in the Gulf of Mexico.
Vanessa is currently a PhD Candidate in the Chemistry Department of LSU. She also earned a Master of Science in Chemistry from Rochester Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Chemistry from St. Bonaventure University.
