Shirley Doan is an Apprentice through the University of Texas at Austin’s Undergraduate Apprenticeship Research Program. She works closely with HARC’s Energy and Air team to conduct policy focused research to inform regulatory and project planning decisions for energy infrastructure projects. Her work includes supporting research for several initiatives, including potential 765-kV transmission infrastructure impacts and mitigation of air quality impacts associated with data center development.
In addition to her work at HARC, Ms. Doan collaborates with researchers at the University of Texas at Austin on community-based research initiatives. She supports outreach and engagement efforts with local communities to help ensure research is informed by their perspectives.
Ms. Doan is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Government at the University of Texas at Austin, with a minor in Business and Public Policy. Her interests include the intersection of public policy and corporate governance in relation to environmental and energy law. She is also interested in how legal and regulatory frameworks shape corporate decision making and sustainable development.
