Jiachen Shen is a Graduate Research Intern on HARC’s energy team, where he supports the center’s work at the intersection of grid reliability, clean energy, and Texas’s rapidly changing electricity markets. His role bridges HARC and the University of Houston, helping to shape joint research directions and pursue collaborative grant opportunities that advance data-driven solutions for a more resilient and sustainable power grid.
Mr. Shen is also a Ph.D. candidate in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Houston, where his research broadly examines how power systems can operate more reliably and sustainably as energy demands grow and climate and carbon policies continue to evolve.
