Sign-up to attend HARC hosted Oncor Microgrid tour August 27
HARC will host the Oncor Microgrid tour on August 27, 2015 in Lancaster, Texas. Oncor has completed a Technology Demonstration and Education Center at its System Operations and Services Facility in Lancaster, Texas. This facility showcases the role that distributed energy resources will play in the electric grid of the near future by providing reliable power to homes, businesses, and schools. These transformative technologies are integrated into a resilient microgrid that allow for continuous site operations during extended storm outages and other critical events. A total of nine generation sources provide diversified power to the site. Oncor showcases four of these sources during the tour, including a 200 kW/400 kWh battery system, a 65 kW propane microturbine, and over 100 kW from two solar arrays.
Guests will visit three areas during the tour. First, a multimedia immersion room provides a high-level overview of questions Oncor is answering with their microgrid. Next, the demonstration room displays state-of-the-art control and monitoring technology to integrate and synchronize the diverse sources. Finally, guests head outside to see the battery system, solar arrays, microturbine, and the distribution equipment that ties it all together.
Come visit Oncor’s Technology Demonstration and Education Center, and see how tomorrow’s technology is being applied today!
If you would like to register for the tour, please R.S.V.P August 07, 2015 to Gavin Dillingham at gdillingham@HARCResearch.org.
