HARC collaborates with HISD summer externship
HARC collaborated with Houston Independent School District energy efficiency team to assist with a summer externship program for Furr High School Renewable Energy Pathway Linked Learning program. The linked learning program is an educational approach that combines rigorous academics with hands-on learning and the opportunity to apply learning through real-word experiences.
The program is guided by the following four core components: Academic Core; Real-world Technical Skills; Work-based Learning; and Personalized Support. There were 5 teachers involved in the project. Trips were arranged for teachers to Ikea, Johnson Space Center, Houston Green Building Resources Center, and the Lone Star College Biotechnology labs. In addition, the teachers shadowed HARC's Satish Ravindran, Research Associate, Clean Energy Technology, during and energy audit to learn about energy auditing.
